STMicroelectronics’ MDmesh M6 600V super-junction transistors are aimed at medium-power resonant and hard-switching converter topologies.
There are 37 part numbers covering 13 to 72A, with threshold voltage optimised for soft switching, suiting the transistors LLC resonant converters and boost-PFC converters.
Rds(on) to as low as 36mΩ.
For hard-switching topologies, the capacitance profile is claimed to enhance light-load efficiency, and gate charge is as low as 16nC for low loss when switching at high frequency.
Package options include “the space-saving and thermally efficient new leadless TO-LL”, according to ST, “The JEDEC-registered TO-LL power-package outline has 30% smaller footprint and 50% lower height than the established D²PAK 7pin. Low parasitic inductances helps minimise electromagnetic interference.”
For the less adventurous, standard DPAK, D2PAK, TO-220, TO-247, and PowerFLAT are also available.
Applications are expected in battery chargers, power adaptors, PC power supplies, LED-lighting drivers, telecoms, servers, and solar micro-inverters.
